Online Shopping Security

Check out transactions are sent to this web server encrypted using SSL to protect information from interception. After successful checkout, an encrypted email message is sent to Pariyatti with your order information. After being received by the orders desk, credit card transactions are processed with AuthorizeNet. Credit card information is never stored unencrypted on the server. The encrypted order is temporarily stored on the server. The encrypted credit card data is purged from the website database after the order has been processed. Currently, personal information other than credit card information is stored on the server for use in case of failure of the encrypted email system. This information is accessed encrypted over SSL by the Pariyatti staff.

Warning Dialogs

This is normal with new browsers. Until disabled using the check box in the dialog, the browser will alert you when ever you submit a form, begin using encryption, stop using encryption, and several other cases. These dialog messages are meant to inform you of your current encryption status, and do not mean that the site is insecure. Credit card numbers, addresses, phone numbers, and other sensitive information that is submitted during checkout is sent using encryption. When adding items to the cart, subscribing to the newsletter, and other non-sensitive functions, encryption is not used. This is a standard arrangement for a website.

Expired Certificate

Netscape version 3 and InternetExplorer 3 will give this error message when attempting to check out. They will have this problem with secure transactions on any website. For security reasons, browsers are programmed to stop trusting the agencies that issue the certificates used for secure web transactions. The certificate issuing agencies are used by the browser to verify that this is the real Pariyatti. This error means that the browser is unable to verify the authenticity of Pariyatti's certificate, not that the certificate is invalid. If you choose to continue, the transaction will still be encrypted in both directions. It is recommended that you upgrade to the latest version of your browser software as new versions are released constantly to fix various security problems.
