German translation of the classic introduction to Vipassana meditation as taught by S.N. Goenka. Prepared under his guidance and with his approval, this full-length study includes stories by Goenkaji as well as answers to students' questions that convey a vivid sense of his teaching.

According to a note on the manuscript this manuscript was completed by the Ven. Nyanaponika on 8 September 1942 while in an internment camp in Dehra Dun. The existence of Ven. Nyanaponika's translations of the Atthasalini and Dhammasangani in the form of typewritten manuscripts was drawn to the attention of the Pali Text Society in the eighties by Dr Friedgard Lottermoser. Preparation for publication was considered by the Pali Text Society at a Council meeting on 18 May 1986, and an initial start on this was made by those working at Buddha-Haus in Oy-Mittelberg probably in 1993 (this is an excerpt from the Pali Text Society Web site).
